Bad Breath Causes
Some causes of bad breath include:
- Poor oral hygiene or health, including tooth decay and/or gum disease.
- A dry mouth (most often caused by stress, fasting, smoking, and alcohol consumption.)
- An over growth of certain bacteria in the mouth and digestive system
- Candidiasis
- Sinus infections
- Side effect of certain medications (especially those that cause dry mouth as a side effect)
- Smoking
- Certain foods can cause bad breath such as garlic, onions, anchovies, and high protein diets
- Poor digestion
- Constipation
- Poor liver health
Symptoms of Bad Breath
- A white or Yellow Film on the Tongue
- Dry Mouth
- Bitter, Sour, or Metallic Tastes
- Post Nasal Drainage
- White Nodules on the Tonsils
- Brushing and Dental Flossing the Teeth Makes no Difference
Tips to prevent Bad Breath
- Always brush teeth, clean your tongue and floss after meals and before bed! Good oral hygiene is of utmost importance when trying to get rid of bad breath!
- Make frequent visits to your dentist and oral hygienist and make sure to fix any tooth or gum concerns before they get out of hand. Most cases of bad breath are related to tooth decay and gum disease!
- Gargle daily with a good peppermint and fennel flavored mouth wash.
- Avoid smoking as this is also a common cause of bad breath. If you do smoke then it might be a good time to quit smoking naturally.
- Eat at regular intervals as this increases saliva production and reduces bad breath. Chewing raw celery sticks helps to keep breath fresh, so keep this handy snack nearby.
- Address any underlying bacterial or fungal problems such as Candida.
- Drink plenty of water through out the day and cut down of coffee. Having a dry mouth can cause bad breath so sip on water through out the day and make sure you drink at least 8 glasses of water daily.

- Chewing Basil ( Tulasi) leaves everyday helps to stop bad breathing problem.
- Equal quantities of Area nut ( Supari) Garlic and Nut meg (joyphal) Powdered. One spoon of this powdered taken with water before sleeping stops Bad Breath.
- Pomegranate (Anar) skin can be boiled in water and washing mouth with this water hleps to cure Bad Breath.
- CHewing Tender Henna (Mehendi) leaves and spiting its juice also helps to stop Bad Breath.
- Boil some Mint (Pudina) leaves in water and keep drinking this water or just chewing Mint leaves helps to stop Bad Breath.
- Durva (Dub, a grass used to worship Lord Ganesha) boiled in water and filtered water used as a mouth wash also stops Bad Breath.
- Ginger juice mixed with hot water can be used as a mouth wash helps aslo stops Bad Breath.
- Eating California raisin (Munakka) daily for 15 days helps to cure Bad Breath.
- Washing mouth with Lemon water which helps also helps to stop Bad Breath.
- Eating Roasted Cumin seeds (Jeera) or Carom (Ajwain) seeds or Carrom leaf or Aniseeds (Saunf) also helps to stop Bad Breath.
- Sucking a cardamon (Elacichi) or Clove (Laung) after meals also helps to stop Bad Breath.
- Long Pepper (Pipple) powdered and taken with Honey regularly helps to stop Bad Breath.
